Tottenham ace might not play again this season as agent provides injury update

Tottenham Hotspur appeared to have pulled off quite the coup when they snapped up a free-agent who had also emerged on the radar of Premier League rivals Aston Villa and West Ham United.

And, who knows, perhaps he will still prove to be a fine addition to Ange Postecoglou’s roster.

But it appears that Tottenham supporters will have to wait until 2024/25 to find out, a player who has only featured six times for the London giants seemingly unlikely to step foot on the pitch again until pre-season at the earliest.

It has been six months now since Manor Solomon was spotted in Spurs’ famous white kit, coming off the bench late on during that highly controversial 2-1 win over Liverpool back in September. A game best remembered by the Luis Diaz goal that wasn’t.

Solomon continues to battle back from a meniscus injury which has restricted the former Fulham loanee’s impact since arriving on a free from Shakhtar Donetsk.

And the winger’s focus, it seems, is not on a return this season but in the next one, Solomon’s debut campaign in North London pretty much a write-off.

“He underwent a small operation 10 days ago,” Shlomi Ben Ezra, the Israel international’s agent, tells Sport1. “In five, six weeks, he may start running again. (Solomon has had) a lot of bad luck. But it is better that he arrives ready for the next season.

“With God’s help, we will soon see him back on the grass.”

Spurs could sign Timo Werner permanently

Postecoglou confirmed at the start of March that Solomon was still ‘not anywhere near’ returning to first-team contention (Football London). His long-standing absence is a major reason why Spurs opted to bring in Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig in January.

Tottenham have the option to sign the former Chelsea speedster for £15 million in the summer. If they do trigger that clause, it remains to be seen what that would mean for Solomon’s own future, with Brennan Johnson, Richarlison and Heung-Min Son also capable of playing in Solomon’s favourite left-wing role.

“He works with the best people in the profession in the world. He is slowly starting to catch up. Let’s pray that this is his last injury, and he will come back stronger,” Ben Ezra adds.

“Manor will know how to be ready for Tottenham next year. They are building with him and did not sign him for one year but for five years.”
